After years of efforts to establish a university in Portugal, The university of Coimbra commenced its life in Lisbon. It became installed with the aid of King Dinis of Portugal in 1290, with Papal confirmation coming that same year. because of war with the Church, the college become relocated to Coimbra in 1308. nowadays, the college has over 20,000 college students and is organized into eight schools: school of regulation, school of medication, faculty of Humanities, school of Sciences and technology, school of Pharmacy, school of Economics, faculty of Psychology and education Sciences, and the faculty of sports activities Sciences and physical schooling.
